Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000
1. Introduction
This manual is published in terms of Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000 ("PAIA"). The purpose of PAIA is to give effect to the constitutional right of access to any information held by the State and any information held by another person that is required for the exercise or protection of any rights.

5. How to Submit a Request
Requests for access to information must be submitted using the prescribed Form C (available from the South African Human Rights Commission website) and delivered to the Information Officer by email.
A request fee of R50 (fifty rand) is payable upon submission, with additional reproduction fees as prescribed.
6. Processing Time
We will respond to PAIA requests within 30 days of receipt, or within the extended period as permitted under the Act.
7. Grounds for Refusal
Access may be refused on grounds set out in Chapter 4 of PAIA, including protection of privacy, commercial confidentiality, and safety considerations.
